Airbus New Space Challenge 2019

To enter submit a 1 page abstract on any new commercial business idea relating to space.

Examples but not limited to: Constellations, pseudo satellites, traditional satellites, launchers; Applications, services, data collection, mining.

The best entries will be invited to create a more detailed business plan and give a 30-minute presentation at the Airbus Stevenage site in April. Senior Airbus management will be attending and asking questions regarding your business idea.

The competition will be judged on the idea, innovation, technical and commercial feasibility and the business plan.

This is a group competition (min 2, max 5) open to all students working towards any undergraduate or Master’s degree.

Airbus Student Presentation Competition 2019

To enter submit a 350-word abstract on any space-related topic you have undertaken at university. We are primarily looking for exciting and innovative ideas encountered during your study or research.

1st Prize £200, 2nd Prize £100

Deadline for entries: 8 February 2019

The best entries will be invited to give a 20-minute presentation on their chosen topic at the National Student Space Conference, being held on 2 March 2019, to a panel of industry experts and an audience of students from across the country. Your presentation will be judged based on the technical merit of the topic, potential for development of the idea and quality of presentation. At the event you will also have the opportunity to meet engineers and graduates working in the company, attend talks by leading members of the space sector and network with other students.

Barclays Local Genius Competition

Grads in Games

Search For A Star is one of the industry’s biggest student game development challenges, designed to help you make the leap from student to professional games developer.

Jobs, internships and mentoring are available for a high achieving final year and Masters students, while personal feedback from industry professionals and impressive portfolio pieces can improve employability tenfold!

The Challenge

We’ve worked with leading studios all over the country to bring you this year’s Search for a Star. Our industry judges have created a number of briefs to challenge and test your skills, giving you the perfect opportunity to show these guys what you’re capable of.

The challenge consists of five categories which you can enter: games programming, 3D character art, 3D environment art, 3D animation, and VFX. Each category has its own briefs and, where applicable, concept art donated by the industry.

The Format

We want to prepare you for what lies ahead; that’s why our challenge has been split into components designed by industry experts to mirror a typical games industry recruitment process.

We’ve got a number of great industry partners with us this year, which means we’re happy to say that all students who register for Search for a Star this year will be able to take part in both the Skills Assessment and the Dev Project! You’ll have even more opportunity to show the judges what you can do!

Stage 1: The Skills Assessment: A HackerRank C++ test for programmers or a portfolio assessment for artists;

Stage 2: The Dev Project: Programmers create their very own game which can be taken in any direction they see fit, while artists create a game-ready asset pack to industry briefs. You can check out what last year’s winners created here;

The Interview: Outstanding students will be invited to our Finals Day Showcase Event to demonstrate their skills and knowledge to a panel of industry experts

The Hiscox University Challenge is a national competition for students to develop creative solutions for tackling the challenges the insurance industry faces every day.

Lalco Residency Scholarship Programme

Lalco Residency is a serviced apartment hotel located in the heart of suburban Mumbai, Andheri – East. Merck Innovation Cup

From June 23 - 29, 2019, Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany will be hosting the Merck Innovation Cup 

The Innovation Cup is an initiative for graduate students in natural sciences, computer sciences, and business administration to attend a training program near Frankfurt, Germany.

All travel, food and accommodation expenses are paid by us.

The Innovation Cup is designed to support the professional development of graduate students interested in the pharmaceutical industry. Participants learn how R&D in the industry works by lectures from Merck managers and scientists. The students will also advance an idea to a full project plan with their teams. The event brings together a promising new generation of talent with senior Merck managers and researchers and accomplished Merck retirees in a meeting of the generations. It also provides a unique chance to network with the brightest students from all around the world. Teams will work on innovative projects in the areas of: Oncology, Immuno-Oncology, Autoimmunity, Small Molecule Drug Discovery, Protein Engineering and Screening, Digitalization.

Postdocs and graduate students on their way towards a PhD in biology, chemistry, physics, medicine, biotechnology, bioinformatics, computer sciences, data sciences, informatics, biochemistry, pharmacy, engineering or related fields are invited to apply. In addition, advanced MBA students or recent MBA graduates with an interest in the pharmaceutical business and a background in natural sciences are also eligible.

The participating teams have the chance to win the Innovation Cup award endowed with EUR 20,000 for the most convincing project plan.

At the last day of the Innovation Cup a scientific conference with alumni from previous editions will be organized.

National Investment Banking Competition

Participation in NIBC will provide hands-on experience and insight into the daily responsibilities of both junior and senior investment bankers. Competitors will utilize and develop skills essential for a successful career in investment banking including:

  • Researching and analyzing financial data
  • Running scenarios in financial models
  • Evaluating structural alternatives against client parameters
  • Creating pitch books
  • Presenting to senior management

The Competition culminates in a live pitch by finalist teams to Managing Directors of leading North American investment banks and an audience of 150 professionals and 350 students at the annual Gala Dinner.

Postdoctoral Programme for Scholars of Excellence

The Postdoctoral Programme for Scholars of Excellence provides exceptional individuals an opportunity to generate an innovative and independent research programme under the instruction of researchers based at BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute.  

The program provides applicants with a generous stipend for three to five years, access to research facilities and support while obtaining rigorous mentorship to foster their early career development as child health researchers.

The Great Competition

Join the Design Museum for the launch of The Great Competition, a new national design and engineering challenge for undergraduates. The inaugural competition will run over the 2018-2019 academic year and invites undergraduate students to respond to an industry-led live brief on sustainable manufacturing. Inspired by the UK Government’s Industrial Strategy, students are challenged to develop innovative solutions to one of today’s most pressing societal, environmental and business problems.

This year, undergraduate students are invited to respond to an industry-led live brief on sustainable manufacturing, inspired by the UK Government’s Industrial Society.


The Great Competition is open to any undergraduate studying design, design engineering, engineering or any related course or discipline anywhere in the United Kingdom. Entries will be accepted from both individuals and teams. Entries do not have to be developed expressly in response to The Great Competition brief, and maybe current coursework, but must be the original work of the entrant(s).

Shortlisted students will have the chance to take part in a masterclass at the Design Museum, with the winner receiving a cash award.

The Morpheus Prize

The Morpheus Cup is an innovation championship held for University and Graduate School students all over Europe aimed at encouraging student entrepreneurship. Since its first edition in 2015, the Morpheus Cup has been supported by the European Commission as it is aligned with their ambitions to tackle talents’ shortage in Europe.

The fifth edition of The Morpheus Cup will take place in the European Convention Centre in Luxembourg City.

PART 1: The MORPHEUS PRIZE - students can compete individually or by team by submitting an innovative project or start-up idea by 7th April 2019. They can choose up to 3 categories among the following: Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, Customer Experience, FinTech, HealthTech, E-commerce, HRtech, Virtual & Augmented Reality. The top 3 projects for each category will be invited to join us in Luxembourg on May 22nd 2019 to pitch in front of an international jury composed of representatives from leading brands (see 2018’s jury:

The Morpheus Cup is open to all European students and those who have graduated within a year of the competition. The Start-up Series

The Start-up Series is a monthly seed funding competition. Every month, one start-up is awarded up to £150,000 of equity funding along with support from an experienced director and media coverage across Start-ups must have been trading for less than 21 months and be UK-based.
