Creative Writing imageIn this creative writing course we take an innovative approach to contemporary writing and focus on a deep understanding of the creative writing process. Covering such genres as fiction, poetry and aspects of the novel, we enable you to get the best out of your writing, and progress your level of knowing how best to craft meaningful tales and poems from your life and experiences. As well as educating your imagination in a way that takes you out of your comfort zone, fostering originality and a fecund mind, classes consist of specific writing exercises which are designed to acquaint you with the necessary technical aspects of writing.

The tutor will give advice on writing and moderate discussions about your work between you and your peers. You do not have to be an experienced writer or possess a substantial knowledge of literature. All that is required is an open mind and a willingness to explore new ideas about writing and publishing trends. As such, both experimental works and conventional forms of writing are encouraged.

This course is not intended to aid non-native speakers of English improve their written language skills.

About the tutor

Ronnie McGrath is a published writer and poet who regularly performs his work in and out of London. He teaches on various creative writing programs and was Creative Writing Director at the University of The Arts in 2009-2012. Awarded 1st place for his writing by ACER in 1994, he was a featured writer at the Free Word Centre in Farringdon. DATA TRACE, his innovative collection of poetry is published by SALT.
