This step by step guide will take you through everything you need to do before your Graduation Day, from registering to attend to ordering your gown.

1. Am I eligible to graduate?

Please note registrations for the May 2018 Postgraduate Ceremonies have now closed.

You were eligible to graduate if:

  • All outstanding debts to the College had been cleared by Friday 23 February 2018.  Please contact the Student Finance department to clear any outstanding debts (e: or t: +44 (0)20 7594 3304.

  • You have received confirmation from Registry that your degree has been conferred.

Please note that you will not be able to graduate and register to attend a ceremony if these steps are not completed. To check if you are eligible to graduate, please contact the Student Records team ( stating your full name, student CID number and course name.


2. Register to attend your ceremony

Please note registrations for the May 2018 Postgraduate Ceremonies have now closed.


3. Organise your Visa (if needed)

You or your guests may require a Visa to enter the United Kingdom in order to attend the Graduation ceremony. If you require a Visa support letter from the Graduation team, please complete this form.

It can take up to 7 working days for a visa letter to be produced so please factor these timescales into your planning.

Please note that we can only provide a visa letter once you have registered to attend your ceremony, and purchased any guest tickets for guests that require a letter to support a visa application.

4. Order your gown

 Please check your Graduation invitation email for details on how to hire your gown.    Academic dress is compulsory for this event and you will need to hire this ahead of your graduation ceremony.    Please note: Hats are not part of Imperial College London's academic dress.

The deadline for ordering your gown is Wednesday the 11 April 2018.
