Your graduation day schedule

There’s a lot going on during graduation day, so get to campus early and plan ahead to make sure you don’t miss out.  The South Kensington Campus will be very busy so we recommend arriving at least 90 minutes before your ceremony to make sure you have enough time to collect your gown, tickets and be seated in the Royal Albert Hall before your ceremony begins.

1. Collect your gown

You will be able to collect your gown from the Great Hall at Level 2 in Sherfield Building at the following times:

Collection between 07.00 - 09.30

Faculty of Natural Sciences

Collection between 10.15 - 12.45

Faculty of Engineering

Collection between 13.30 - 16.00

Don’t forget, your gown must be returned to the Great Hall by no later than 20.30 on Commemoration Day.

2. Collect your tickets

Your tickets will be available to collect from the Royal Geographical Society. The entrance is located at 1 Kensington Gore, London, SW7 2AR and the route will be clearly sign posted from campus.

Guest ceremony tickets are issued by the Royal Albert Hall as either e-tickets (which should be printed in advance) or they can send them to the billing address or you can collect the tickets from the box office on the day by showing the card they were purchased with. 

3. Arrive for your ceremony

Doors to the Royal Albert Hall open 45 minutes before your ceremony and we recommend you are seated at the Royal Albert Hall at least 30 minutes before your ceremony begins. 

Details of the door you will need to enter the Hall by, will be printed on your ticket. Your guests may need to enter from a different door.

The doors of the Hall will close 15 minutes before the ceremony begins.

The Royal Albert Hall reserves the right to search bags brought into the Hall. You should be prepared for your bags to be checked and you should avoid bringing large bags or items of luggage.

4. Celebrate at your department reception

Catch up with your graduating class and celebrate with friends and family at your department reception on campus after your ceremony.

Details of the location of your department reception will be printed on your reception ticket. Each reception will last for up to 90 minutes.

5. Return your gown

Before you leave campus for the day, make sure that you return your gown to the Great Hall. Gown return will close at 20.30 on Commemoration Day.
