What did you do before joining the training scheme?
After graduating with a degree in French and Management, I spent a year as a fundraising graduate trainee in the Open University’s Development Office. As a student, I got to spend a year abroad at Sciences Po Paris, was involved in student journalism and interned at Budapest-based NGOs and my university's Admissions Office.
What attracted you to the scheme?
Having already worked in higher education, I knew I wanted to pursue a career in the sector and contribute to the immense social impact of universities; I applied to the scheme because I was interested in exploring new areas and discover where my skills best fit in. The wide range of professional development opportunities on offer also appealed to me greatly.
What would be your one tip for applicants?
Really think about the key skills and qualities in the person specification and demonstrate how you can show these with examples in your application.
