HKBU-Imperial College-CIAC logosTrilateral Workshops on Advances in Plastic Electronics are held annually with researchers from the CPE, Changchun Institute for Applied Chemistry (Chinese Academy of Sciences) and Hong Kong Baptist University. CPE academics and students have visited BKBU and academics from CIAC and HKBU have also presented their research at Workshops hosted by National Physical Laboratory and Imperial College London.

These workshops typically include talks about a wide range of plastic and printable electronics research, including organic PV, synthesis, transistors, sensors, spintronics and bioelectronics. The CPE academics most closely involved in the initial development of the trilateral interactions were Prof Donal Bradley (now at Oxford University), Prof Martin Heeney (Chemistry), Prof Ji-Seon Kim (Physics), Dr Martyn McLachlan (Materials) and Prof Paul Stavrinou (now at Oxford University).

Changchung Institute of Applied Chemistry

CIAC is a multidisciplinary chemistry institute, comprising 12 laboratories and units that conduct basic and applied research and high-tech innovation in polymer sciences, inorganic chemistry, analytical chemistry and physical chemistry. Currently, CIAC’s research focuses on resources and the environment; advanced materials; and new and renewable resources of energy. The strategic goal of CIAC is to become a first-class comprehensive chemical institute and an innovation center in the fields of polymer and rare earth materials while achieving worldwide recognition.
