Funding Opportunities under the GCRF Umbrella

A number of funding opportunities are available from the GCRF initiative, further details on the available opportunities as well as information and details for managed processes for calls where for example there is an institutional limit.

UKRI Funding

UKRI Is distributing funds through the an UKRI Collective Fund and also through individual Research Councils.

Major opportunities are announced through the UKRI GCRF page. These pages also contain links to historical funding opportunities and other useful information.

Collective Fund Calls

The second collective fund call is currently underway, Interdisciplinary Research Hubs to Address Intractable Challenges Faced by Developing Countries, decisions regarding the assessment of outline proposals are due to be announced by the end of February.

Research Council Led Calls

Individual Research Councils are also accepting GCRF eligible proposals through their standard funding routes.

Internal Funding Opportunities

The College has been awarded a three year Research England GCRF internal fund, opportunties will be avialable at regular intervals, the first call closed on 27 September 2018, the next call is expected in Spring 2019.

GCRF Africa Catalyst will reopen in September 2018.

British Academy

GCRF Networking Grants - up to £25k to develop new international collaborations (closed, round 4 opens early 2019)

Academy of Medical Sciences

Global Challenges Research Fund Networking Grants -  awards provide up to £25,000 to support international networking events aimed at addressing global challenges and promoting interdisciplinary collaborations between researchers in developing countries and researchers in the UK (closed, round 4 opens early 2019)
