The International Student Support team organises afternoon and day trips to a range of UK destinations. Some of our full day trips are run in partnership with International Friends, an experienced tour operator and include executive coach travel and full day tour guides to ensure you get the most out of the trip.

Who can join the day trips?

The day trips are open to all current Imperial College students, including EU and UK students. Occasionally staff members may attend, but they must ask permission from the International Student Support team first.

Unfortunately non-Imperial friends and family members are unable to attend.

How do I register and pay?

Click on the link in the trip you would like to attend. You will be asked to complete a registration form and will then be taken to a payment page where you will need a credit/debit card to pay. Your place will not be confirmed until you have paid.

Please note that each student wishing to attend the trip must register and pay separately.

What do I need to bring with me?

For each trip, you must bring:

  • Your Imperial College ID card.
  • Your Oyster Card if the trip is in London.
  • Suitable clothing and shoes for the weather.
  • Suncream, sunhat and water bottle if it is likely to be warm.
  • Lunch if you will not be buying this on the day. Please note that restaurants are likely to be busy and you may wish to reserve a table in advance, especially if a large group of you will be eating together.
  • Money to cover your expenses. Please do not bring very large amounts as we cannot be held responsible for this.
  • A camera.

There may also be additional items you will need to bring for specific trips but you will be notified of these in a pre-trip email.

What if I need to cancel?

Tickets are non-refundable unless otherwise stated.

Please be aware that as tickets for our trips are purchased in advance by the International Student Support team, we are unable to provide a refund of money if you can no longer attend. If you can no longer attend, you may find another Imperial Student to take your place. You will need to email us to let us know.

If there is a waiting list for the event, we may be able to find someone to replace you. In this case your payment will be refunded from the person taking your place on the trip.

What are the closing dates below?

The closing date for each trip is the date after which no more bookings will be accepted. Note that a trip may fill up before the closing date.

Please note that all events are open to Imperial College students only. Each person wishing to attend must register and pay separately. PLEASE DO NOT PAY FOR MULTIPLE PEOPLE

Harry Potter

Sunday 28 January - The Making of Harry Potter, Warner Bros Studio

YOU WILL NOT WANT TO MISS THIS: For the first time ever, the Great Hall stage will be decorated as it was for the iconic Yule Ball. As seen in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, the celebration of the Triwizard Tournament saw every detail of the Great Hall covered in shimmering silver, dripping icicles and sparkling snow. You will get a taster of this incredible set dress as the top section of the Great Hall will be transformed with snow-covered Christmas trees, icicles and an orchestra of magical instruments. Conducted by Professor Flitwick, the orchestra is made up of musical instruments painted by the Prop-Making department to match the silver of the Yule Ball.

In addition to the Hogwarts in the Snow above, as part of this trip, you will be able to delve into the magical world of Harry Potter and explore some of the most iconic sets featured in the films including Dumbledore's office, the Ministry of Magic, 4 Privet Drive, the Gryffindor common room, the Weasley kitchen, Diagon Alley and the Hogwarts Express. 

Price £60 - includes travel by executive coach, full day tour manager and entrance to the Warner Bros. Studio.  

Meeting time: 8am in front of Sir Alexander Fleming Building. Please ensure you arrive at least 10 minutes before the stated depature time.

The Book of Mormon

Wednesday 7th February 2018 – The Book of Mormon 

Join us on a trip to see The Book of Mormon at The Prince of Wales Theatre (near Leicester Sq). It was written by Trey Parker and Matt Stone, who created the popular adult cartoon series South Park, plus Robert Lopez who created the US stage hit Avenue Q and follows the story of two Salt Lake City Mormons who are sent on an important mission to convert the people of Uganda to the Mormon religion…

This isn't a musical for the faint hearted. Expect foul language, sexual content and crude stuff that could easily offend the easily offended!

Oxford & Blenheim Palace

Saturday 24th February 2018 - Day trip to Oxford and Blenheim Palace

Join us on a visit to Britain's oldest university where our guided walking tour will take you into the heart of this land of hallowed academia, to the Bodleian Library, to the Radcliffe Camera, Sheldonian Theatre, Harry Potter film locations and University buildings. Entry is included to the Divinity School, built in 1488 for the teaching of theology and  is a masterpiece of English Gothic architecture.

Then we will proceed to the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill - Blenheim Palace. Here your tour begins with an introduction to the 'upstairs and downstairs' of class conscious life and you will be able to discover how the aristocracy lived and how the state apartments increased in importance as we move from room to room.

Tower of London

Saturday 10th February 2018 - Trip to the Tower of London

Join us on a trip to the iconic Tower of London. The Tower is one of the world’s most famous fortresses and has seen service as royal palace, prison, armoury and even a zoo! The ancient stones hold within them dark secrets, as fortified vaults shine with priceless jewels and historic uniformed Beefeaters stroll the grounds. Situated in Central London, just a stone’s throw from the River Thames, the Tower of London is one of the city's premier attractions. The Tower is still home to her Majesty's Crown Jewels, on display for visitors to see and the world famous Beefeaters are tasked with the job of guarding the priceless jewels.
